Below a certain age (usually 10-12) most children are best served by play therapy. Play therapists use toys, games, art, role play, and “pretend” play to help children reach therapeutic goals.
As a trained drama therapist, play is at the core of much of my work. I have been working with children either as a therapist or as a certificated teacher for over 15 years. I am pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist under the supervision of Katrinca Ford, RPT-S, LMFT # 45032, (925) 831-1926. I am trained to provide Child Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy. Currently I am developing my formal training in modalities such as Sand Tray Thearpy, Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy, Directive Play Therapies, and Theraplay, among others!
